The process to Obtain Financial Aid

  1. Pick up a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The forms are available from high school guidance offices and college financial aid offices. Or you can apply over the Internet at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  2. Complete and submit your FASFA. In 4-6 weeks, you'll receive the results, called a Student Aid Report (SAR).
  3. Sign the SAR to confirm that the information is correct, and take it to your college's financial aid office. Your school will determine what aid you qualify for and notify you in an award letter.
  4. Accept your financial aid package or speak to a financial aid officer about any special circumstances you may have.
  5. If your school awards you a Federal Stafford Loan (either subsidized or unsubsidized), come to the credit union for an application.
  6. If you're a dependent student, your parent/stepparents may borrow under the Federal PLUS loan program, even if you don't qualify for other financial aid. Send them to the credit union for an application. For more information about Student loans, email our loan department using our email form.
